Ok.... just to clear up a bit of confusion. The first attendance thing might seem like they will drop the ticket, but it's not the case. They will drop the fine, or suspend the sentence. But the conviction will still register. You don't want this. Plead not guilty, go to court with the correct paperwork, i.e. receipt and new sticker. The cop and/or prosecutor will almost for sure withdraw the charges, this withdrawal can only be done at trial and not at first attendance.

I care not about the cash. I want the charges dropped.

Yeah the first attendance thing can go both ways.. there are certain situations where they can withdraw but they mostly just suspend the sentence. Most people don't know the difference and still get convicted without a fine.

Naww, usually the prosecuter will give you a chance to describe what happened and then offer a deal. You can accept or decline. If you decline, it goes to court...
