AP2 vs AP1?

I have owned an AP2 as a second car. I purchased a new my04 in Ontario and had it for three years. I competed in autox's with it and it was usually quicker than other AP2's and AP1's, even one that had a 4.77 rear gear set. It all depends on your level of driving skill, imho.
I have driven both and found that the AP1 2.0l motor is just so smooth and easy revving because of the shorter stroke. It kind of felt faster but that was hard to prove without timed laps.
I really miss having it and have been bantering about, within my head, purchasing another S2000. This time I would like the AP1, my00 or my01. The reason? The early models were more nimble, tighter steering ratio and different shock valving. Yes, they were more tail happy but that comes down to throttle control too. I sure don't like the vsa, traction control and drive by wire features of the newest AP2's.

This is just my opinion so please no bashing.

Sligg! Thats a really clean GPW! Where did you find it? I kinda fell off the wagon searching and looking, I guess the cold weather reconfirms that winter isn't over yet. but there are some really good deals out there this time of year! Congrats on the new cars, guys!

Hey Randy, you are right on the quickness of that 04....I felt it as well on the track (factory freak perhaps).

Back to the question at hand;
I've had the pleasure of owning 3 different S2K's each with different options

2002 AP1

2004 AP2

2007 AP2

I love the redline of the AP1 and the cable throttle more so than the DBW.
Everything else however, goes to the AP2. I think it looks better, has a much much more stable rear end in corners, quicker in a straight line (2.2l vs 2.0l torque advantages under the curve). etc.

I believe Honda did all of these tweaks for a reason and made it an even better car.

Either way though, an S2K is great whether you want an AP1/2

I think I will have to change my Tranny soon...
Gonna change it over to an AP2 tranny. I don't like the 3rd gear notchy feel..
2nd gear grind is sooooooo noob too! LOL and totally random.

I think if you get now you should be able to get a good deal. Lots of them go on sale in a couple of months and I think people are more firm and less desperate then...
