I just bought a pair of these tonite at Circuit City in L.A.
They had a selection of about 12. All their radios were GMRS/FRS. The low end started with a 2 mile radius with 8 mile being the longest distance offered. The highest priced radio was a Motorola that did 7 miles but was a fairly large unit. It was $99 US. I went with the Cobra that has an 8 mile radius and was only $65 US. All the higher end models seemed to offer the same features like hands free, 20 channel, battery meter, signal meter, etc. And most came with a recharging cradle.
Can't wait to see how this works and what the "real life" distance will really be since my existing FRS seems to be pretty much line of sight.
