Default Found GPS tracking in my car

I was snooping around and found a GPS tracking device in my car. For those of you in the know...what are my options? Is there a company that will monitor it for me?

Its this one, brand is CSI Wireless (AssetLink):

Here is a similar one unbranded:

Assuming your gf is not snooping on you (data logger), wikipedia says for (data pushers)

Stolen vehicle searching. Owners of expensive cars can put a tracker in it, and "activate" them in case of theft. "Activate" means that a command is issued to the tracker, via SMS or otherwise, and it will start acting as a fleet control device, allowing the user to know where the vehicle is.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPS_tracking

So, I assume you call the monitoring company with your vin and register for the service or perhaps it's already paid for and is in standby mode waiting for theft.

I have a Boomerang GPS unit on my car....

GPS is the most expensive form of vehicle security but the most reliable.

Your first step would be to contact the original owner.... and get him to send in information that he sold the car to you.... then you'll be able to call and setup GPS tracking for your car if you wish...

Prices are around 200 bux a year give or take depending on the quality of the service.

When you call the company for the first time, dont be surprised if the company won't talk to you since you aren't the owner who setup the tracking.

In the case of theft, you would call them... and they'd handle locating your car and contacting authorities...

Of course the above is all vague because I have no clue what your service is like with that company but like I said earlier.... your first step is to contact the original owner... and then contact the company and ask for renewal if the policy has expired, etc.

Just becuase you have the hardware doesn't necessarily mean you have coverage.

Let me know how it goes.
