F1: Quali and tires and wings oh my...
FIA president Max Mosley has managed to get all his regulation proposals for 2006 and 2007 approved.
In a meeting of the Formula One commission today, the proposed new qualifying format for 2006 was approved unanimously.
Furthermore, tyre changes during races will also make a return - although this proposal was met with objection from some teams, there was sufficient votes in favour of it to approve the change.
Perhaps Mosley's biggest success of the day, though, was getting the FIA's radical double rear-wing concept, along with a return to slick tyres, approved for 2007, although subject to input from the technical directors.
The FIA said it would implement the changes as of 2008, when the existing Concorde Agreement expires. However, the F1 commission voted in favour of introducing these regulations as of 2007.

What's the change in qualifying format? The current one is more boring than watching paint dry.

every year new rules, new this, new that....
How are we supposed to know how a team is doing long term????
F1 is the only sport I know that makes major changes year, after year, after year, after year......
Look at any other sport, they don't change the rules because one team is consistently beating everyone else! Only in F1
I need to organize a linch mob for Max/Bernie.....

more good news for ya Marco...
Max Mosley looks set to win another four-year term in office as president of the FIA as there is nobody planning to stand against him in this week's election. The election is scheduled for Friday when it is expected Mosley will be confirmed as winner.
Before then Mosley will meet with team bosses and Bernie Ecclestone to agree a qualifying format for 2006 - this meeting is scheduled for Monday. On Wednesday the FIA is scheduled to announce the 2006 F1 calendar.
I vote for Nabeel.. he's tough, but fair

The rule changes to slow Ferrari? Riiiight...I guess it's just pure coincidence, that AMD's partnership with Ferrari somehow magically gave them the idea of testing the rear wing already while other teams were in the dark.
