e test
I snookered myself when I forgot that I will need a drive clean test to re-new my plate for 2013. The problem is my DOB is in Feb but the car is now in storage until May 1 2013.
I can't take the car in this week, It's up on stands and no wheels at the moment as I'm getting new tires installed. Next week it might be snowing which means salt on the roads. I know I can get 24 hrs of liability insurance if I do take it out for one day but now I'm fracked!
Any one else in the same boat?

I just went for mine. DOB is in February too. If you have your battery disconnected you will need to relearn you emissions in the oem ecu. There is a post somewhere from bill man that gives you a how to.....

Just do it when you take it out. You'll need to go to the ministry and get a temp permit. That will give you a couple days to get it out of storage, drive it a bit and then go. After you get it go to the ministry and they will give you a new sticker. TADAAAAAAA.

Hey Nick,
I bought a Deltran battery tender this year. Works great
Temp permit sounds good. Of all the years that I have had to store cars this is the first year that the e-test crap has got in the way. The cars were either brand new or the drive clean test wasn't around.
Thanks, guys!

I wouldn't even bother with a temp permit. Just go get your e-test when you pull the car from storage. If "by chance" you do get pulled over I'm sure the officer would let you go given the perfectly sound explanation of the expired sticker.

the new system you will pass as long as all your readiness codes are 'ok'.. Which I beleve is 6 however not all vehicles will use them. As long as you can plug a code reader into your car and it gives the readiness checks all as ok, your good to go. Doesnt matter what your car is emitting at the tailpipe...which I can kind of understand with newer cars however there are still many older cars on the road. Is this move to lower overhead at the shops? Is the government that concerned with shops overhead cost? hmm...
