keep in mind they were producing 100x times the number of S2000's.
also, the motor choices were radically different - in the mustang you got a 2.4L 4-cyl or a 5.0 8-cyl.
i think the GM cars were 2.8-3.0 V6's and then you jumped to 5.0 and 5.7 litre monsters.
you were already pre-disposed to the motor choice before you walked in the door - it defined the car you were getting/shopping for.
maybe 1% (if that) of the buying public was ever up-sold on the motor.

Yea, but with the lower diff who does not want the temp guage for the tranny...
never needed one in my other cars.....

It really is funny, around here when I see another S2000 I usually know the driver... They really are not common at all here, my neighbor still thinks it is an exotic ultra low production sort of experimental Honda race car... Who am I to argue?
