Default Deals Gap - Tail of the Dragon

I don't know how many of you guys went down to the WTD 2007, but I did not have a chance to. Luckily, I was able to take a trip down this past weekend with my brother Mike who drives an Audi TT Quattro and our wives. Was down there from Thursday till today and I have to say.....absolutely amazing weekend. Roads and scenery like I have never experienced before with this car! I can honestly say, I have never pushed this car as hard as in the last few days in it's entire exsistence and I have owned it since new. (only has 30k on it for a MY2000).

Anyways, great trip. Thought I'd share some photos. Definitely would do it again.

We've been down there several times and will probably return again in the fall. It really is a great time.

Because the wives were with us, they wanted to stay somewhere a little nicer. We were about 25 mins away from the Dragon in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Cabin was right in the smokey mountains. Cost a few bucks more, but were central to the Dragon, Blue Ridge Skyway, Gatinburg and the Smoky Mountain National Park. We did all those routes including the Cherohala Skyway. Met some great people and ate some incredidible BBQ at where the locals eat, not the tourists. I can honestly say, it was worth the 11 hour drive.

Not a blind corner so you could see any traffic. Otherwise yes, in a place like the Dragon, always stay right of the line. We saw a couple of wrecks down there do to this during the weekend.

Looks like your friend was happy that he had the quattro, how was the drive down?

I've been thinking about doing this...

The drive down was good once past Michigan; ashpalt condition improved immensely. In total, we drove just over 3000 kms round trip including driving while down there. Considering I only put 1345 kms on the car in total the whole of last year, it was some of the most enjoyable driving I have ever done with this car.
