You know how many countries they sell too????
The S2000 is available in more than 5 or 6!
And I would say that the sales to these countries would not be huge, so why would they invest the time?
Like you said, WE do it all the time - it's not that hard....

Regardless Marco it's just a couple multipliers for estimation. Whoever you are exporting to, go to their custom's website and it will tell you the %'s.
I.E. Canada Customs
Australia Customs
UK Customs
It's "JUST" an estimate.
Most business type software will do this for you actually.

Why any seller would want to take the effort to calculate customs fees is beyond me.
They calculate too low - they're out.
They calculate too high - the customer is pissed. I can see it in the main S2000 thread that X vendor overcharged me for customs.
It would take an effort because there are different rates based upon the different countries of manufacutre. There is nothing to be gained by it as you'd risk pissing customers off if you overcharge (and thats not nice anyways) and you have much to loose if you undercharge (you've quoted your customer a price after all). THere is absolutley no upside to a vendor billing for estimated customs fees.

Updatee: We heard from the customer today. He is willing to pay the duties. There was some confusion with the card he used to place the order.

Sure you can look at it that way or just realize that your option was already thought of and discard because it won't/didn't work.

They have been doing it here for a long while with no considerable issues, and previous places I have worked.
Maybe you've wored for Nortel for too long
As for the wheel I'm coming up with a magnetic frictionless bearing
