Default Computer networking blah blah blah question

We have a server at work, I want to access it from home, we have a firewall ( software based ) installed.

What it the best way to accomplish this?

I love GOTOMYPC....that is what my firm uses

basically its alot like PCanywhere that can take control of your PC from anywhere with an internet connection...goes through my firewall, which is impressive since Im an investment banker...
