Default check engine light

Does anyone have a copy of the trick to the check the engine light by using the paper clip method and watching how many times it blinks? I tried searching for it but it doesn't work.

thanks,

Are you talking about the CEL or SRS light?

If your CEL is blinking, it just means you car is due for an oil change. Very easy to reset. (search for CEL reset)

The "paper clip method" you're refering to is to reset an SRS light. It's definitely NOT recommended unless you know what you're doing.

Rob, you're confusing the CEL light and the maintenance light.

There should be a 2P connector under the passenger side dash which you can trip with the paper clip. I don't have the list of the codes but im sure someone here has an online copy of the mechanics manual.

I found the code its P1457 and now just waiting for the dealer to let me bring my car in since they did some work on my car and now it shows up.

It's still ok to drive my car with this code right? It has something to do with the EVAP tank/something like that.

Thanks for the help guys...

P1457 is the EVAP Canister...

As far as checking the codes yourself it is very easy....the honda ecu has a self test feature and it give out all the codes. Now with the older hondas it used to be easy with a small 2 pin connector that you had to insert a paper clip. But with these cars you need to short PIN 4 and PIN 9 on the 16PIN ECU connector.
Now the way to know which pin is which number... if you look at the connector so that the long side is on the left and the short side is on the right....you lable the long side from the bottom up frm 1-8 and the right side from bottom up from 9-16
Hope this helps. If you need more info lat me know...i have all the codes etc.

This raises a good point how come you are still on the board and your signature still lists a S2000
