Default Can anyone comment about some alternatives to the S02

I'm curious if anyone has tried any other tire brands instead of the S02. I just bought 4 new s02's this weekend and I am thinking about some alternatives for the next purchase, Yokohama or Toyo. The S02 retail for $315 for the rear and $295 for the front. That works out to $1400 balanced and mounted. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Cheers,

Jim.

Send a PM to 1badride, Rahul. He's got some good ideas, he also doesn't have the S02s anymore.

I've been quite happy with Yoko AVS Sports in 245/45 on the rear. Putting them on the front this week. No downside that I've found. IMHO, They have great grip, improved progressivity and feedback, and better wet traction. They also last longer.

Since the price cut on S-02s they cost a little more but I'd never go back.

i have SO-3's - excellent "all-around" tire.

not quite as good in the dry, but i'll take the compromise for wet weather performance.

they give a little more notice before they break loose (not that i would know ).

probably in the same same price range as the SO-2's as well.

i'm thinking toyos next time around as well - had them on my corrado - amazing dry grip.

regards.

Toyo T1S is a tire with much better treadwear and wet capabilities. Although they are not as good as the S02 in the dry but wet performance is 100% better than the S02..

TKG26,

Do you know what the tread life of the S03s are like in comparison to the S02?

SO-3 tread life seems to be DOUBLE that of OE SO-2's.
