Breaking In A New S2k
I pick up my s2k later today!!!
The dealer has told me that there is no real break in period. I would think that with this engine it would be best to break it in nice and slow.....What are your suggestions for breaking in this car and for how long. Should i not redline....should I take it easy for first few thousand kms?

let me make it easy for you
For the first 600kms
-accelerate moderately no rpms higher then 6000rpms (NO VTEC)
-use your brakes moderately try not to slam on your brakes (allows for pad seating)
- dont use the cruise control, vary your speed, dont stay at a consistant speed for long periods of time.
Thats most of it
Enjoy

For the first 600kms
What Tugz_S2K said is basically right on, I will add a few more.
- prior to 600 miles I never went over 5,500 rpms and never ful throttle
- after 600 miles I raised my rpms up gradually, I did not just run it up to 9 grand at 601 miles.
- at about 700 miles I was up to 7,500 rpms for short little bits of time
- at about 800 miles I was up to 9,000 rpms for short little bits of time
- as the miles increased I increased the amount of time I would stay at high rpms in VTEC
- by 900 miles I was driving it however I wanted, whenever I wanted
- do as the manual says, check your oil everytime you get gas, keep a bottle of oil in the trunk so you can keep it filled up
- the new engine will consume oil, no need to panic, this is normal, the consumption will decrease with age
- do not change the factory oil out prior to the first oil change at about 3,750 miles, rumor has always been there are special properties in the factory oil and it is best to leave them in
- as 03_AP1 said, point out to the dealer they ought to know their product line better

I'm pretty sure the "special ingredient" in the break in oil is moly.. thus if you find an oil with a lot of moly in it's formulation, like Redline, you should be good to change it sooner. I changed mine at about 3200km and put in Redline 10w30. The engine never used any oil during the first 3200km, and I VTEC'd a lot.
