Jack's dad called the brother's wife in the car and said to take jack to a specific address or he'd kill the boy. They went there and it went boom but jack escaped. Now the wife and miles are being hunted down by dad's armed thugs and jack is chasing them.
The thing I love about 24 is the optimism. Optimism about how much time it takes to drive from one place to another. Since the beginning of the season they've logged at least 12 hours of driving time in what? 5 hours? If it were any more realistic the whole episode would be jack sitting in traffic on the 405 to go 3 miles.
