Anyone has won fighting a speeding ticket themselves?
I got a speeding ticket on Brimley, South of sheppard...I was the only car on the road, didn't notice any other car following me and all of a sudden the flashing lights...
He also gave me another ticket for not having the "vehicle portion" of the ownership.......he told me to set a court date and bring my ownership with me and he'll drop the charge...
I don't think he has a radar or any proof that I was speeding and was thinking if I can simply state that on the court, will that work?
Thanks.

If he doesn't show that will work, but it's your word against his he will win if it's just that.
I don't even have the vehicle portion or the plate portion of my car Honda STOLE it.

What I have learned is that if you ask to see the radar receipt and there is none to show then he cant give you a ticket for speeding. There is no evidence that you were speeding. Also you can always set a court date and hope he doesn't show, it happens a lot.

If you plan on fighting the ticket yourself, then you should book a first attendance and obtain a full disclosure of the incident (i.e. cop's report) and hope to find some flaws in it to get your ticket thrown out.
Sounds like you got nailed w/ a radar, in that case you have a better chance in comparison with laser.
If you have doubts, just hire a ticket fighter.

thanks, i never did bother to fight my 2 speeding tickets (25km/h over - both were nailed by laser, bright sunny day, no cars around me whatsoever) -- wasn't experienced enough so I hired X-copper. no conviction whatsoever.
but i've read enough from other car boards to know what to do if i get in a jam like this.

All I know is that with laser they will have to stand outside of the car and use a tripod (because the "light" has to be steady when obtaining a reading) -- of course this can't be used on a crappy day w/ rain / fog / snow / etc. -- This was told to me by the x-copper guy when I had to fight my ticket.
So for all other times, cops can use radar -- this can be done in car, I believe -- some cop cars even have them mounted inside the squad car so they don't even have to hold on to something to get you.
Again, if you have doubts, let a professional take care of this for you. Spending a little bit more may justify potential increase in insurance premiums from your ticket.
