Just get yourself ready to take a loss if anything happens
So do most people just not report it?

The only things i can see them not covering you over is an engine swap... i mean even david_t 's car... so what he has an aftermarket hood, front bumper etc... 'maybe he couldnt afford to put oem stuff and all he had lying around was aftermarket parts.'

There's a couple ways to go about this.

1) Find an insurer who doesn't care. (Rare... basically forget any of the big names)
2) Get the car appraised by an official appraiser and get it insured as a hotrod.
3) Go to Facility Insurance (they cover high risk (bad drivers, modded cars but it costs at least twice regular insurance)
4) Go back to stock.
5) Don't report it. Cross you fingers. Hope to hell you don't kill someone. Covering a theft is much different than covering a liability claim. I think their may be laws that force the insurer to cover a liability claim, but I could be thinking of US states and not Canada/Ontario.

Try calling an insurance broker, not a "brokerage" that only covers 1 insurance company and it's siblings (there's A LOT of these out there.. fronts for the big insurance company masquerading as a broker with your best interests in mind).

there is no way that they wont cover you unless your modifications are sooooo extensive. I mean you could play stupid and say i bought the car like this... i got it e-tested and certified like this and was never told that the rims were aftermarket or that my wing didnt come stock on this car. I highly doubt they can deny you. If somthing happens god for bid... play stupid
You can play stupid all you want...
But getting you policy cancelled is like pure cash to the insruance companies and cancer to yourself.
They will cancel for anything man!
Be REALLY careful man!
Insurance is a scam anyways but it's an even bigger when they f' you in the ass by cancelling your policy.

Do you know if they allow it though? TD told me if I don't report it and I make a claim, they will deny it 100% because I have aftermarket parts (with some exceptions).
I'm also with State Farm. I remember several years back my dad got a little newsletter in the mail from them saying that if his car was modded that they may not cover claims. When he called them to get clarification (his Mustang at the time was definitely not stock) and they were really vague. However, a few years back I had a comprehensive claim with them and they replaced my CAI without batting an eye. That said, I would be careful. I don't know anyone who has had their insurance cancelled on them, but I can imagine that would be a royal PITA if it did happen.
