1st ticket...

I thought first attendance they can only offer you a plea or something? maybe ive forgotten. they will try to give you a plea, which doesnt help you much cause it will still go on your record. insurance looks at all tickets as either minor or major, points dont matter to them.

I would suggest trying to get a first attendance meet before you set up a court date. First attendance is basically like court except you are only talking to the prosecutor. On the day of the first attendance meet you will arrive at the court house and the receptionist will call you in. Upon entering the office, just explain to the prosecutor why you got the ticket. If he/she thinks it is minor mistake on your part, then you'll get pardoned. No questions asked.
I recommend this route through personal experience because a similar event happened a few months back when I got ticketed for failing to have my insurance card. Being 17 this would mean my insurance would go up roughly 500/year. First attendance meet took literally no more than 5 minutes. It saved me a lot of time and stress. Best part is, after a first attendance meet, if you don't like the results that you get with it (ie. the prosecutor doesn't drop your ticket) you can request a court date in which you will be tried regularly

same thing with fix it tickets...no cat? show up with a picture of a cat on your car..gets thrown out right away. loud exhaust? show a stock exhaust photo..
his is a more serious offense, a cop caught him in the act of something, prosecutor wont just throw it out...i suggest a paralegal for this one...they can argue which section is should fall under as sometimes it might not fall under improper lane change/left turn based on the story...if it is infact the wrong section, the cop did not properly write the ticket and it will get thrown out.
my 2 cents.

well the trial was today, and i lost i did get it reduced to $40 from $110 and no points. the judge was really nice but the cop was a real hard ass. every defence i used he basically shut down with huge legal terms i dont thinkn anyone could understand.
