The O.P.P. (ontario provincial police) are strictly enforcing speeds to 100kmh and no longer allowing us 120kmh in excess on major highways (freeways to our southern neighbours).

Not all bad news, because isn't most U.S. freeways 55miles per hour (which amount to around just under 90 kmh) ?

and really they can't catch everyone ??

I guess I'll just keep it in 5th and cruise to the lovely sound of vtec..

Ummmm,

What exactly are you talking about? The speed limit has always been 100km/h.

I think what he means is that there's always been an "understanding" that you won't get a ticket on say the 401 if you're cruising at 120, despite the limit being 100. So now, the OPP has allegedly said there is no longer this "understanding" and you will get a ticket if caught cruising at 110 on the 401.

I don't know if this is true but I doubt much will change in practice.

Common, as far as I have been able to tell, the real number is 140km/h on the 401.

Now, I wouldnt want to be a lone driver going through a 140 km/h trap, but Ive gone through traps in packs of cars, all driving 140, and the cop has never pulled out.

Sometimes I feel like Im holding up traffic at 140.

Stupid cops and politicians.. The speed limit should be raised to 140km/hr and they should put an emphasis on driver training and proper hwy driving skills like passing on the left and moving over.. How else are you going to improve traffic flow.

Oh and FYI, just because you get a speeding ticket for 15 or under and you don't lose any points, your insurance company still treats EVERY TICKET REGARDLESS IF you lost points or not as a ticket. So if you get 3 15 km/hr over speeding tickets in 3 months, during renewal time they CAN bend you over and raise your rates. A speeding conviction with no points is still on your driving record.

Similarly to your comments about my decision whether to buy the catless exhaust, I could also comment that your need for speed pollutes the safety of those that are not comfortable driving in such conditions. This is more of a rhetorical comment but you must admit you're setting a bit of a double standard. It's just that you place the environment above the safety of fellow commuters.

Not trying to be an ass, okay maybe I am...don't take this post too seriously.
