Where Can I Buy a Helmet?
Hey guys. Do you know a good place where I can buy an SA2005 helmet for track days and autocross (in the S. Fl. area)? A friend needs to buy one ASAP to track his car and I'll be looking for one in the next few months to join him when I get my S2K. We're thinking about the Chin Motorsports events.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may use any SA or M - rated helmet with Chin as long as it's rated Snell 1995 or newer. I currently use a nice Shoei full face helmet that I bought on close-out from Rick Case Powerhouse in Weston. My helmet is Snell M 2000 rated, so it will be good for the next 10 years or so. I expect to replace it before then because they get kind of rank after 5 years of use.
All of the autocross groups that I run with will also accept these standards.

I know there are archived posts dealing with loation and availability.
If you get a helmet from a motorcycle shop (I did) make sure it has the certifications needed for the group you will be racing with.
As the Chin page says; buy the best helmet you can afford. You only have one head!!

Thanks for the input. I don't know if I'm being stubborn, but for some reason I feel I'd be better off with a SA rated helmet than a M (I don't ride a motorcycle). I know it's just about the same thing. I'll check at Rick Case Powerhouse.
My friend needs to buy one this week. He's been offered a ride in a Challenge Stradale at the Cavallino Classic next week, and he figures if he's going to start tracking his car, might as well go ahead and get a helmet.
Is there a difference between manufacturers in the thickness of the padding between one's head and the shell of the helmet?
Thanks again,
Guillermo

I saw lots of people with Bieffe helmets at track events. That was one of the most popular models.
