Barring any discussion about 100% of politicians being crooked, I'm merely talking about our governmental system...it's set up in such a way that while noo one can screw it up badly during their short term in office, it also doesn't allow them the freedom to really fix a lot of stuff, either. Clinton left office with a significant surplus of money (I'm using givernment terms since we all know it's all a huge deficit), then Bush came along and wiped it all out plus added a large deficit of his own. No, I'm not a Clinton supporter, he screwed up too (and screwed around, according to monica). My point is, they're ALL screwed up! Even if we were lucky enough to get a good-hearted, well-meaning president in the Oval Office who didn't have skeletons in the closet, they would be practically powerless to do any real good while there.
Our country and government are FAR from perfect, but it's probably the best to be had in the world. I hate to love it. Sometimes I think it WOULD be easier if terrorists got lucky and nuked the capital so we could start fresh, hopefully with a set of non-crooked politicians who actually cared more about the world at large rather than how it made them look in the paper that day.
Oh, and tell Lisa I'll be turning 65 in a few days...she can jump out of my b-day cake

No one is perfect, I think thats the point here. We're all human. I guess you have to take the good and bad, and at the end of the day, see who does more good than bad.
I already decided to vote for Bush again. Bottomline, because of his tax cuts, Bush is putting more money in my bank account. Yes, its an extremely selfish view but being single and in the 33% tax bracket, Bush is saving me a lot of money. If Kerry is elected, he has already stated that he will reverse Bush's tax cuts and ultimately I will take a nice hit. And for what? To give it to some homeless crackhead? I hope that if Bush is re-elected, he will work to make his tax cuts premanent.
