Talking Tires HUNT, need advise after RE050's Ap2 wheels

So I have been driving the accord for the last month A LOT since my kid etc etc ... anyways .. i drive my S2k on the weekends for sure and i knew my tires were going bald big time, but yesterday i was feeling like Alonso with no TC on silverstone after a torrential rain, it was fun but scary, ... anyways ... note: I have Ap2 wheels, ... I bought this --now gone-- tires when i hit 37K miles in december (all 4), now @ exact 47.100K they are gone, they are Potenza, RE050 Pole Positions 255's ... the fronts are perfect .. maybe like 89% intact .. but the backs are gone, I am towards the R070 ones from the CR's (though not sure will fit) but once again, this was my 3rd set of Potenzas after i got the Ap2 wheels when the car was with 17K miles ... is an "absurdity" says my GF -lol- ... so .. what you guys suggest?

I'd say my budget per tire is $240, i want the same or better performance as the Pole Positions but with a bit of more life, is not like i race car people on teh streets but i like to drive this car the way it should be .... but i love how safe this Potenzas RE050 are in wet or dry ....

Please advice .... for now i installed my DIY gun metal old Ap1's wheels with Dunlop tires (when i used to dream about tracking my S b4 the baby), they are decent but i feel the brakes work more, a lot more now .... but is for a bit until i get the new tires ..

Thanks for your advises!

with the Ap1 GM's .. i kinda like, but the Ap2's are so clean looking ...

EDIT: 255 RE050 PP's are the ones i always use on Ap2 wheels ..

Potenza = S02s?

They were horrible in the rain for me on my Ap1...

PPs are better wet weather tire than the S02s in my opinion. RE070s won't last you very long btw.. A friend of mine and his roomate both tore through their sets of tires this summer already.

Have you looked at RE01Rs?

Thanks Mocky, I have Ap2 wheels but the RE050 PP's tires only last me 10K miles =( (my Ap1's are for emergencies now) .... maybe the RE070's are not a good idea then since i am looking for a bit of more extra life ....

Ah.. gotcha...I was going to say.. the RE050s are better in the rain than the S02s were. You aren't going to get better treadlife out of the RE070s.

Ask zdave87..he's running the RE01Rs now on AP2 wheels...he might have some insight on wet weather characteristics as well as treadlife..

Sumitomo HTRZ III's

Make sure you get the III's they are the good ones. The II's and I's are crapl. I love mine, I ran Wake the dragon on them and I have run about 15 autoX's on them with about 7000 miles and they still look new. I also run a very agressive camber and they are wearing evenly. PLUS they are CHEAP. I think it cost me $425 for all 4 shipped from tirerack, in 225 255

The REO1R's have been great so far-great in the rain, great daily driving, great also for AutoX's and for track days--much better than the 50's.

It was like night & day on the Dragon as well. I had the 50's for DBR07 and the REO1R's for WTD08-the handling & confidence level was much higher with the REO1R's.

Just put those on after a little fishtailing in the rain.

I like them.
