The same thing happened to me about a month ago. I agree that you should have a specialist repair the door.
I highly recommend Marco Door - here's their number: (954) 587-1011

Yea well we got the door up, seems that it reconnected itself to the 30 year old garage door opener thats still attached to teh door.
Once we disconnected it again it was still heavy as hell but we got it up long enough for me to get my integra out for my trip this weekend.
I need a whole new door, and to replace the springs only was going to be about $240. Which would not have been compatable (aparently) with the newer doors out there. so i just bit the bullet and decided to get a whole new door one shot, knowing that I needed to do it soon anyway.
Good side: save a bit of money long run
Bad side: they can't do teh work till the end of the week so my S2 is still stuck in teh garage (or we can risk anothe hernia by lifting the door again)
Either way thanks for the help guys.
$2k later I'll have a nice new garage door, with a hi tech opener and everything.... no more getting out of the car to put the ladder under it to keep it open!!! yay!!
