Question Regarding Spugen Exhaust
I would like to buy an exhaust system for my car. My 2 choices are either the Spugen Dual Round w/Round Tips or the Dual Titanium. I spoke to Mike over at Team Spugen and he says the Dual Round w/Round Tips are magnaflow mufflers. What does this mean and would this be something that would be recommended? Thanks.

I have the Spugen Dual Titanium. The resonator is made by Magnaflow, and piping is mandrel bent by Spugen. I enjoy the sound of the Dual Titanium. Strong sound below 4500 RPM, above fairly quiet. Under acceleration it sounds very strong. I do recommend Jet coating it after you get it. I got mine second hand, no real damage, just some oxidation. I had it removed and Jet Coated by Hot Shots in Davie(great job). I've had it out for about a week. They quaranteed it for one year no rust, peeling, bubbling, or cracking.
There isn't anyone with the Dual Round here in S. Fla. that I am aware of.
Let me know if I can be of any more help.

Here is some info on the coating, I am hosting a groupbuy for headers, might be able to hook you up with a deal on the exhaust!

Spugen uses aluminized steel which is vulnerable to surface rust. Nothing that
inherently will diminish the exhaust from a performance standpoint but from
an aesthetic view, not pretty to look at (for those behind you idling at your
gorgeous car with the funky brown-stained piping clearly in view).
I have a single Spugen exhaust with an aftermarket canister muffler. It originally
was the version 1 ti-tip catback and arguably, their best (for horsepower increases
and light weight....18-lbs).
I replaced the canister (see below) and love the look but the rest of the piping
bothers me. Note: the brown you see on the canister is actually gold hue from
the burnt finish. The piping from the cat to the canister has that surface rust
expected from having aluminized steel near an ocean.
Also, my Magnaflow resonator is now rattling like a crackwhore
holding a $100 scratch off ticket. To fix these visual (surface rust) and audible (resonator)
faux pas', I am getting the system redone in polished stainless steel. Bear in mind
Magnaflow has a lifetime warranty on their products so I shouldn't have to pay
to get that replaced, just the upcharge for their stainless steel version.
Bottom line, Spugen makes a great exhaust for the money but it's not SS and
for that reason, being that we live so close to the ocean, keep that in mind.
Just a devil's advocate viewpoint. Go with the jet coating for the slight upcharge and
I think you'll be pleased with the results.
Onr more detail, Magnaflows aren't the quietest mufflers. Most Spugen offerings
(as do many aftermarket catbacks that are performance oriented) have that 3-4K
drone. When the big cam charges however, it is 2L (or 2.2L) nirvana.
Come to think of it though, I don't think Spugen uses Magnaflow anymore so maybe they don't have that Magnaflow tone that many of us actually prefer.
The newer version might be more "civilized."

I have one of the early Spugen stainless single exhausts. It's a Magnaflow muffler and resonator. Magnaflow is a good aftermarket parts maker, and I've read many great testimonials from their customers. I couldn't be happier with my choice. Sounds freakin' sweet, drops weight, gains power. That's good enough for me. I wasn't aware of the rust issue, but it doesn't bother me one bit. Function over looks for me.
I took this pic to show the wheels, but the exhaust has about 6K miles on it.
