So got my 5th speeding ticket about 2 months ago. Decide to just go to court solo. Judge calls my name, i go up, she looks at my record and says that my case is going to court.

My 4 previous tickets I would just go to court, plead no contest and get a reduced fine, no points. Last 2 times i got court appointed traffic school. I've never elected my choice of driving school, so i still have my get out of jail free card.

so...

I leave out of the country this week, my court case is for next week. Do i put a lawyer on it, or do I postpone my trial for when i get back and go to court solo? and then elect traffic school?

Now since for the past few years they have the pre-trial BS, they don't dismiss your case if the cop doesn't show up. Any chance I'll have this benefit at trial if i go alone?

How about driving like a grandma? ... after 1000's of $$$ during 10 years on tickets ... and 2 tickets on the NSX with no merit in 3 weeks (not for speeding, just plain as**le cops) I learned that:

I think your gambling if you think the cop is not going to show up for court. I would elect going to school and pay the fine. This is your 5th ticket and the judge is going to teach you a lesson.

let's see if i can remember all my tickets (all in a year span btw)

1. Unlawful Speed 78 in a 55 Polk (Redneck) County FL
2.Unlawful Speed 70 in a 55 right on Miramar Pkwy (****ers)
3. Following too closely
4. Driving on wrong side of the road (3 and 4 were at the same time heh. Dude was doing 20 in a 35 so i get around him and redline 2nd then i see flashing lights behind me.)
5. Unlawful speed 85 in a 50 on pines blvd (This one cost 400)
6. Improper right turn on Miramar Pkwy and Dykes
7. Not really a ticket but I got pulled over on 595 by an off duty BSO wearing a goddamn holister shirt and jeans for doing 65.. IN A 65! The asshole told me I should be going faster than the speed limit in the fast lane. Then he goes back in his car and floors it.. (Hate to pull the race card but I think he saw a black dude in a nice car and decided to check me out)

Also got pulled over because I "fit the description of an aggressive driver". I was doing the speed limit but Mr. Cop didn't like the fact that i was cuttin up the lanes

Now thinking about it most of my tickets were on publc roads and not highways. Now i do the speed limit on the locals and try not to get on it too much on the highway.But no tickets in the past 7 months since i put the HT on (knock on wood)

I like reading all the hate for cops when a majority of the tickets were justified. Sorry. I'm not a cop but if you are doing 85mph on Pines blvd you deserve a ticket.
