If you get it done at the dealer, I believe it's approximately $1000 for them to install the top. The first time I got my top cut, I took it to a place by my house and they did the install for around $800. If your insurance is paying for it (which they should under comphrensive damages) then just get it done at the dealer. I believe you can pick up a new top for around $950. The second time around, I just installed a new top/frame with Willy which was a somewhat challenging project, but turned out fine.

...love the clerks quote. Been a long time since I saw that flick.
I just noticed a pin hole and much wear on my top last night. It's not leaking...yet!! But I can see a little spot of daylight. I'm not happy about this one, but I gues after 92,000 miles of mostly top down driving, it's to be expected.
I'd much rather do this one myself, especially if it's going to cost $800 - $1000.
Hey Josh - the wonder mechanic, you got top installation skills?

uhhhh, rivet gun?
I don't think I'm qualified for that one.
I'm calling a top place to see if I can put some sort of adhesive fabric strip on the inside to prevent rain intrusion and reinforce the weak areas that are already apparent. I would suggest the same for anyone putting a NEW top on that plans on keeping the car for any length of time also.

you dont need a rivet gun, you do have to remove the whole top to replace the cover. and installing isnt easy but is easier than the other part. which is checking for water leaks, windnoise, and adjusting it accordingly.now you can see why it is a costly job, alotof labor is involved with this and patience as well.
