Default My CEL & Pompano Honda

Some of you know. After 3 weeks of not driving my car, my car shot a CEL on the way out to Joey's yesterday. I of course was PISSED. So I check the oil (fine), pulled out the air filter (fine), pulled out the plugs and coils (fine), so I gave up and decided to take it in to Pompano Honda first this this morning. I use them for anytime I need service and they have been good to me.

Long story short, I show up first thing, no appointment, and they take me right it without a problem. I was able to go out and ask the tech about what caused the problem and they took good care of my car. So for any of the north folks Pompano Honda continues to get a

Oh my check engine light was due to some bullshit emissions control item (evap value or something). Stupid EC equipment. I think I'm going to yank it all out and put a Mugen ECU. Grr...

Why does it have to throw an ominous thing like a CEL for a stupid emissions value! Why do they have to freak me the hell out for nothing. Make a new idiot light for: the goddamn government thinks your car is spewing some gas but your car is really fine.

Grr.

My Experiences with them are the same... When most dealers couldent get me a part for four days... Paul at pompano was able to get it for me next day with a discount. Even For people down south, they are one hell of a dealer. They have earned my buisness

New rule: CEL should only be lit (in red) if followed by an audible warning, "please shut
car down before it costs you an arm and a leg."
Otherwise, it should be lit in yellow, which would imply, "no biggie, keep
on keeping on. Check it when you get around to it."
I think it's a way for dealerships to hack the wallets of good people (IOW, older
folks) when they have no clue what is causing it. A place could easily read the
code, realize it's a $15 part and return to the waiting room to tell someone it's
their cat converter, which needs replacing and is a "wear item" and thus not covered by
warranty, cost plus install....about $225.
"Will that be cash or credit?"

Good to know Pompano is still at the top of the heap.

Hey, guess what I joined the group last night. A CEL came on on the way home from Joe's. Unfortunately, couldn't make it to Pompano. It is at its old home of Braman. Plus the damn auto rolldown feature in the drivers window won't work again. 3rd time for that one.

I will let you know what my CEL is for.
BTW: Could a custom exhaust with the original header and Cat cause a problem?

No, shouldn't be that.

Just keeping everyone udated. Braman got back to me yesterday and said that the codes that came back to them indicate an injector problem. So now I have a new set of plugs and new injectors. Fingers crossed this is it. The S should be back in my hands by this evening.

Then she is off to her face lift. Two weeks without my car. This is torture!!!!
