This is the place, just got to deal with the heat the crowded street, heavy traffic, nasty drivers, high crime, higher Home insurance, skyrocket mortgages, and let's not talk about car insurance. BTW I love this place

Anyway, my girl was born and raised in Westchester and later moved to the Upper East Side for her nursing career. After 25 years she decided she had enough of the winter and dirty snow and pulled the trigger to move to Miami. Snow is very nice and pretty when it first falls as long as it's dry and fluffy, about half a day later it's wet , black and smelly and so will you be when you've been walking around the city.
It all depends on where in NY you are moving to. Are you moving into the city? Bronx? Manhattan? Brooklyn? Queens? Yonkers? Staten Island? Or are you moving into one of the northern counties like Westchester, Rockland, or Putnam? Because it's night and day depending on where you live.
If you're going to live in the city, forget about having a nice car b/c it WILL get hit on the front, rear, and sides unless you are banking mega $$$ and can afford a nice sweet parking spot on a monthly basis in one of the garages. And I'm talking over $500/month easy just to park in the garage. To live in the city you need to forget about driving and start walking and riding the MTA. It's a little easier to drive in the surrounding boroughs like Queens and Staten Island but still a pain in the ass. Tolls are nothing like here in Miami. Miami tolls don't go past $2, and with a SunPass you pay as low as $.25. Get ready to pay out your ass in NY.
We love the city and all it has to offer. The sights, sounds, and diversity. It's like no other on the planet. But you have to be willing to REALLY adapt to it as far as all the language barriers, cold weather, traffic and crowded city. We love to go every year a couple times a year because we do miss it a lot but by the end of the of our trip we can't wait to come back home to Miami.
Miami traffic is also pretty bad but no where near as bad as LA or NY. And Miami addresses are super easy, it's just a plain grid like system with numbers going up and down.
I think everyone here has pretty much covered the Miami aspect of living.
Go Dolphins!!!
