If you have a carport enclose it and lock it, if not build a garage. Out of site out of mind for the nosy assholes peering over the fence. If you are going to leave your car at the mall. Get a monitoring system/2-way, a handgun and/or a GF who is old enough to pack. With a 2-way and all the BS, I lost my first one. Yeah it was great "knowing" my car was gone. So as soon as I hit the lot I could confirm it was not towed before the police report. BTW if it's in a lot w/ a tow service the police will ignore you until you confirm the service didn't tow it. So even with a 2-way keep your shooting abilities within a 100 hard dash of your car. Otherwise you end up just like I did a few seconds late and a S2000 short. FYI the police found my car less than 30 minutes later completely stripped (it only takes a few wrench/sockets to remove everything a thief will take). The theft and dump were in two different jurisdictions both considered it one of the worst (as far as parts loss). The insurance adjuster considered them amateurs, IDK what he expects from "pros", he stated he gets 4 to 6 S2000 thefts a month on his desk alone.

If someone trails you to the movies, expect your shit to be stolen. My final 2 cents get good comprehensive coverage if you can't afford to pay out of pocket.
ohh man storys like this make me want to never leave the S anywhere out of my sight, that sucks knowing your car is being stolen but you cant get to it

for the most part it will spend most of its time in the uni's parking garage, and at my house. if i'm going to go out to the movies or to the mall i'll just ask my mom to lend me her accord.

All you need to protet your car is seat locks, an alarm, and common sense. If you know you are going somewhere where the car is gonna be out of sight for awhile (like the movies), take someone else's car or park it where there is a lot of traffic/high visibility.

If thieves want your shit they WILL find a way (i.e. a tow truck). Your job is to make is as difficult as possible for them to take it.
i understand what your saying there but if the car is parked inside my property and he clearly knows that he is doing something wrong (ie; attempting to steal my car) you better believe if i have a shotgun im going to take a couple of buck shots at em' plus the laws on self defense here in florida are much more conservative then in other states like california, (not saying its ok to shoot ppl). but i am deffinitely going to get some seat locks and a 2-way alarm, and i like to think i have common sense so am good there lol.

Here's the way I look at it, Do I have a car that's easily stolen? Yes. Do I let it change my life in terms of paranoia? No. In the end, it's still just a car. Is shooting and possibly killing someone worth it? I say no.

I have seat locks installed and park my car in my garage every night. I have left it on the street for a few hours and have left it in parking lots. The car is fully insured so if something happens to it, insurance will cover it. If a thief really wants my car, he's gonna get it regardless of what I do.

Basically, don't let the car run your life. Enjoy it for what it is and stop worrying!

Seat locks, Alarm and other less conventional and less commonly known forms of deterrents work. I agree with much of what Josh said as well as Dan. BUT, if you cant afford to cover the car well enough with insurance then simply realize the risk you run and get over it or sell the car and find something you can more easily afford. What Josh said is by far the best thing to take out of this."...don't let the car run your life. Enjoy it for what it is and stop worrying!" Good luck!
