Default Clutch Slippage

Let me just say this first. I love my car and I take good care of it. I replace the oil every 3,000 miles and I replaced some of the other fluids after 10,000 miles. The S2000 is my daily driver so I want to make sure everything runs right all the time.

When I first began posting on S2Ki.com I mentioned I was having problems with the 1st to 2nd gear shift. Basically it was grinding. I did some research and from what I could gather it is because I was shifting the car at low rpms. Some people suggested that I shift the car above 4,500rpm/5,000rpm. I followed this advice and when I shift from 1st to 2nd the gears do not grind. I have another problem now.

Once in a while, which is not very often, maybe once a week, I like to push my car. Nothing extreme just taking it out on I-95 for some 30-*** (in case the popo is reading ) type stuff and when there is hardly any traffic. I mostly push it when I am using the on-ramp to merge onto 95. Every one of my shifts are fluid and the clutch grabs without breaking a sweat. But when I push it on the street the clutch reacts differently. I never launch my car but if I decide to push it from a 2nd gear roll, I get some major clutch slippage. Not all the time but sometimes and it really upsets me. I do not know what to do.

I lease the car and I want Honda to take care of it because I really do not see why I should be responsible. I have one mod and that is the AEM CAI. The intake may or may not add 5hp but still the stock clutch should grab. I mean come on, it is only 5hp more if that. I am thinking about approaching my local Honda dealership about it but I am worried that they will tell me to f off. What do you guys think I should do? Thanks.

PS If I really have to I will replace the AEM CAI with the stock intake. But I really don't want to have to do that

You have to replace the AEM CAI for the stock intake, and go to the Dealer and tell them that the clutch slips and the transmision grind 1st and 2nd gear, to see what they tell you, the ideal will be that the dealer change your transmision and clutch for new ones, but is almost imposible, but you can try, keep us updated, good luck!

What model year car do you have and how many miles? If you're over 36k miles, there's little hope for warrantee assistance.

MY 2000 S2000s were subject to a TSB on clutch noise, but no manufacturer will warrantee a clutch agianst wear. If you're still getting the 1-2 grind and it's a 2000 or 2001, there's also a TSB out on that. If they have to remove the transmission for a fix to the grind, you may be able to get them to change the clutch too. It would be reasonable for you to pay for the clutch parts and any additional labor.
