Basically, the C5R was destroying the Astons and ALMS imposed restrictors on both that car and the C6R in order to preserve competition...

I haven't kept track of GT1 much (since usually it's just the two Vettes running 1-2), but have they had any performance loss by switching fuels? I thought the new C6Rs were running ethanol or something. I didn't think the C5Rs were..

whats funny is that aston has been racing in the LMS, so they haven't raced in preparation for the 24 hrs. Corvette which races only against itself in alms lost to a team thats running 1 race.

Yes the C6R runs etahnol which actually produces more power than petrol.

Because of Aston's lack of competitiveness the C6R is handicapped:

"The C6.R Corvette, for example, is required to breathe through two 31.8-mm restrictors. These orifices are about the size of a 50-cent coin. Much like the carburetor restrictor plates used by NASCAR on superspeedways, the ALMS air restrictors limit airflow through the engine, thereby controlling the horsepower produced. Moreover, ALMS officials can change the size of the restrictor orifice to maintain a level playing field."

what the air restrictors? w/e

if aston needed 'more' power so the vette wouldn't need an air restrictor, aston could make more power. I guess aston should put the engine from the charouz lmp1 lola into the DBR9, since its based off the DBR9's and makes ~80 hp more. i don't hear corvette crying that aston has an unfair advantage.







and for next year or as of le mans, all petrol lmp1 cars get bigger intakes so they can compete against the diesels. its not just the engine. audi and peugeot have far superior chassis aswell.

and i guess its not fair that flying lizards should have won le mans if it wouldn't have been for the crash. Since they ran the fastest laps of the race. Did u know the Porche GT3RSR has a 3.6L engine vs. the Ferrari 430's 3.8L engine.

no shit it doesn't make up for it, but it makes a difference if they're so evenly matched.
