dunno how much experience you have riding, but i would recommend picking up a used ninja 250 or something to ride for a while. you can get in just as much trouble just as quickly with a recent 600 as you can on a liter bike.
i know youre gonna do what you want, but i just dont wanna see another bike wreck on the news

^ then dont watch the news. J/K. I have ridden bikes in the past so it is not like i have no experience just not tons of it. Anyways, what i really want is an F4I. I dont think i would be satisfied on a bike like you mentioned. I would rather not buy one at all. Trust me this is no spur of the moment thing. I have wanted one since i could ride a bicycle and have been seriuosly thinking about this for over 4 years. This is the toy i have always wanted and no one will stop me from owning one.

F4i is a good starter bike.
We have a blue one at B&B Cycles that could be had for a good price.
Call Jesse at 760-241-7387 and tell him Rad sent you.
On the topic of experience, what kind of "street" riding experience do you have. Dirt bike riding is only worth about 50% compared to the street. (Don't use much rear brake on the street, traffic to contend with, etc.)
Have you looked into insurance? Some people wind up paying $3000 a year.
What does your credit look like or are you prepared to pay $10,000 cash? (Might not be that much but tax, etc. adds up)
Not trying to talk you out of the bike. Just want you to ride for many years, not 6n months like the majority of new sportbike owners.
My first sportbike was a 1991 Honda CBR 600 F2. They are great bikes. But I rode an 81 So-sucky (Suzuki) GS750 for 6 months and 30,000 miles before I got the F2. And yes, I laid the GS down at least once that I can remember. I also dealt with stator issues. Made me appreciate the new bike.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

its not mine , but hope this help...
Dont forget to save money on good riding gears. $600-$1000 depending on how much your head and body is worth to you
$3000 sounds about right for full coverage on a good record for 600cc...Liability insurance is about $100

I believe it's the 01 and 02, maybe 03..? That has the split seat. I'm assuming you've already gone out and bought a cycle trader from 7-11 or somewhere. You can also check recycler.com
