Beaverun 1.53 miles
8/2003 2004 Honda S2000 -- 1:10.846 77.7
12/2002 2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1 -- 1:12.02 76.5
http://wheeltalk.fancal.net/?p=535
Now 2 seconds is a lot of time.. BUT thats a Mach 1 which has about 80 horse less.. i think with 80 hp they might be able to make up 2 seconds.
Doesnt handle so awful bad now does it?

Really not a fair comparison, Blown 4.6 V8 vs 2.0 4 cyl. I guess what I'm trying to say, the blown 4.6 should be a lot faster than a weak lil 4 cyl.
If honda, nissan, toyota, benz, bmw, ferrari, lambo, porsche, had/have a boosted 4.6 v8, I'm sure it would work the little 4 cyl S2000 all day long.
I'm not saying I don't like domestics, But I guess I just expect more from GM, Ford, & Dodge.
The only thing we have that's competitive is the Z06. Time for American car mfg to step up their game.

Agreed... the new mustangs are a joke too.. 500hp that wont stop spinning the stock rear tires..
but agreed the point was to show the s2000 wasnt beating the mustang, by that much, if at all.. considering were not exactly talking about the same car (mach 1 305hp, 03 cobra 390hp..)
Oh and actually the Ford Gt is a ferrari killer.. for less then a ferrari.

And once again, 550hp 5.4 blown liters vs 510hp 4.3 N/A liters.
I'm sure if ferrari added a 1.1 liters and a blower, that it would produce more than 550hp, considering they're only 40hp away.
See my point. american engine are inefficient. they just don't produce the hp/liter that Honda, BMW, Ferrari, Nissan. Toyota, etc. does.
If I had the extra money, and I already owned a ferrari, I would buy the Gt40. It's a nice car.

true true.. inefficient... but technology used in those motors goes hand and hand with dollar figures..
the simple fact is that you cant touch that kind of power for cheap unless you go american
its all a trade off..
s2000- great handling, reasonably priced..underpowered
cobra- high power, resonably priced...underperforming in the corners..
but as i have shown.. the cobra isnt that much slower then the s2000 for the same money, same MPG, MORE space, keeps its value, and you dont have to worry about blowing the rear end if you install and intake.
its all about your opinion and what you want..
but saying all that.. i would still in a MILLIsecond sell my cobra for a ferrari.. if i didnt have to pay for it

I think the technology is there. But for some reason, it's not happening. Example: the cobra could have gotten four valves per cylinder, but instead it got three. Not much more money, better design.
<==355rwhp, haven't blown the rear end yet. With lot's of clutch drops lol, but you do however have to worry about the triton v8 spitting out a sparkplug and having to pull off the head to re-thread the sparkplug hole.
