Then you're a cheapskate too.

People put a lot of time and $ into making this site run so that 90% of you can free load.

You don't have to pay, but if you chose not to, then stfu when something doesn't work for you or the site is offline.

You have no right to expect anything more than what you paid for. And if you paid nothing, you should set your expectatoins accordingly.

[QUOTE=spidale5,Apr 25 2006, 11:09 AM] Posts like these keep me from renewing my gold membership.

No joke...

OK. Thats all I needed, I was just curious. I knew that you were adding servers, just not sure of exactly when.

As for the freeloaders, I agree 100%. If I were a guest, I wouldn't open my mouth. But seeing as how I have contributed to the community, and continue contributing in more ways than just $$, I felt justified in raising the issue. Sorry to start a bash fest though.

cthree, do you think there would be a way to have a redirect site for when issues like this go down, just so that we can stay informed? When we are staring at an error screen, we start to panic

I actually managed to get some work done this afternoon for once!

Figured it was the new servers going in, or something related to that.

When all the power in the rack goes out or the firewall hangs (both happened today) there is nowhere to redirect you to... I can post a notice about planned outages and assuming you find and read them you'll know in advance. When I take the site down I usually post a replacement page saying I'm doing maintenance or some such. When things happen unexpectedly I may not know about them for some time and depending on what and where the problem occurs I may have no way to inform people that I'm on the case and you'll just have to take it for granted that I'll fix whatever the issue is ASAP.

When the site goes offline all hell breaks loose and my phone starts ringing and my IM client starts popping up chat windows like crazy with people asking if the site is down.
