You must not see anything wrong with why the site becomes so slow because of them either.

Actually the site is slow for a number of reasons right now and it's not the post whores. It's search and photo albums. Google indexing the site 12 million times a day doesn't help either.
Browsing the gallery has been the biggest issue of late. Every time someone looks at an album that hasn't been seen for a while it's got to generate the thumbnails. There are 50GB of images in the gallery so we can't keep all the variations around forever. We do for a while but only a couple of weeks. If nobody looks at them they are flushed. The trouble began when we added a photos button to peoples posts. it doesn't take a dozen people browsing page after page of the gallery to pretty much kill the site.
Search is another killer. get five people searching for S2000 or exhaust and poof. Those terms appear in so many tens of thousands of posts and the search system is so crappy that it will crash the database server or at least make it run like molasses in January.
These are core issues we are addressing in the next version of the site due to today but not finished yet.
