Default Search still borked?

I'm wondering if the search is still acting up for everyone.
I am trying to find where people hardwired their V1 and I'm running into problems left and right trying to search

Yes, it seems borked for me too. I did a simple search for "mugen", hard to believe it turns up no results.

I took the search server offline to try and fix it. While the site was down yesterday I started fresh. I haven't got it all working just yet but I'm working on it...

That gap is intentional

The search is back to normal which is not to say it's fixed but it partially works, at least as well as it did last week anyway. The good news is at least the search database is current now.

I spent most of the day on the search problem and have made a number of discoveries which are going to bode well for a "final solution to the search problem".

As you know doing a full search (the Search button) will probably not work. The searches are taking minutes to complete, a search for "s2k" takes 16 minutes!! I've found a way to get that down to 1.25 seconds and most other searches down to under a second by experimenting by hand on the database.

I'll put this new knowledge to work tomorrow by reworking the search code to use the new faster method. It's not going to be too hard, a day maybe as opposed to weeks. Hopefully we'll have something viable this week.

For now you can search topic titles by putting keywords in the Search... area under the logo at the top of the page.

searching for "V1" will ALWAYS be a problem. 3 letter minimum search term. Good to keep in mind when posting.

Well, search is screwed. I can't seem to find a reasonable solution given what I have to work with. Unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, the software for the forums is something written by someone else that we purchased and have modified to suit out needs. Even an Armani suit can't be made into a reasonable raincoat.

I've given up on it and will try again when I get the new forums software version running in about a month's time. It's a lot more refined than what we have and hopefully the search works. If not I'll probably have to pay the software company to fix it for us.
