if the problem is too many members and posts, then how come the RX-7 Forum and Supra Forum are not having any problems. they are both using the same search format as we used to (the good one), yet the RX-7 Forum is pushin 17,200+ members, and more than 3/4 of a million posts. and the Supra Forum has more than 15,250 members, and 482,000 posts, yet it works just fine.

oh well...as long as the admins are happy, right?

It would be better if we can choose to have the results returned as threads or posts. Though I see the benefit of having the search results returned as threads, I think many people(like me) prefer it the other way. It's because when there are lots of duplicate hits from the same thread, you will inadvertently return to the same thread over and over again; especially if the search results go on for several pages.

chris. no you aren't bitching nor does it come across like that.

I WANT to make sure that everyone is happy with the new search, and your input is appreicated. What options did you chose before to do this search?

Everything you described sounds like exactly what the "search" button does. Maybe you can tell me whats different. I could add a "My Posts" search to the start menu.

I hate the way the new search returns the results. In the old search, I know exactly who posted what message and when. In the new search, there is no indicate of either the date or the poster. And the replies are in the reverse order. Why can't the results be displayed just like the normal threads are displayed (just like the original search function did things).

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It is appreciated and krazik is working to address all the issues you raise. It's important that the search function meet your needs and that is the ultimate goal.

Like krazik said, it's new software for us and we are still making changes and learning the software (it's very complex). It will evolve rapidly so try and be patient it will be perfect in the end.

Please be as specific as you can about what you want and need so we can get it done for you.

Thanks.
