Avatar Assistance
If we accept the posit of me being a computer neophyte (it's undeniable), can I get some help here?
I am trying to add an avatar. When I go to MyS2K and attempt this (through "Edit Avatar Settings"), I've been unsuccessful. I see that they must be either gif. jpeg. jpg. or png., and less than 6KB. Granted, the first one I tried was a "bitmap" (whatever the heck that is) that I had scaned from a photo ... no luck. Is there any way to scan something and save it as one of the above formats?
I then tried a file (just a photo, see below) that is jpeg. but over 300 KB's ... again no luck. But the feature that will reduce the pixel size was enabled, so I thought it might work. It just spends a few minutes acting as if it is working and then shows the message "Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information."
I see many clever avatars, many with motion enabled ... and it strikes me that they must be quite large. What am I missing?
I would like to have two or three from which to choose.
Thank you.
