2006 ap2 engine swap into an ap1
Good day everyone i want to find out what modifications i will need to do in order to swap in a 2006 engine with the drive by wire into my ap1 , my previous engine is toast. Can i just use my intake manifold from the ap1 and install on the 2006 engine and use the ap1 harness(engine) on the 2006 engine?

You will need to use from your AP1:
Complete intake manifold and injectors
AP1 harness
camshaft trigger wheel
crank sensor
valve cover and cam sensors
crankshaft trigger wheel, requires timing cover and oilpan removal
You will need an Izze kit to bypass the A.I.R. system, as the 2006 head is not ported
You will also need to be aware of your rev limit, as anything over 8400 in the 2.2L is asking for engine damage

What's the reason for using the crank sensor, trigger wheel and cam sensor, cover and trigger wheels from the ap1? Are the sensor connections on the ap2 engine( cam and crank shaft) different and won't work with the harness

Just to add to the list that's already been said, you don't actually need to connect the air pump to the head. As long as the air pump is running correctly, the system doesn't know it's actually pumping air into the head. I recently swapped a DBW setup onto a AP1 and just left pipe and one-way valve disconnected and the system didn't throw any codes and eventually hit all the readiness codes.
