Got my kw kit last week, c38-81 with a 100mm pulley. Ran great. Today, swapped to a 85mm pulley, got it tuned and dyno'd, car made 401/266 at 14pounds. Snapped both my belts in one day Is there a secret to belt tension with a 85mm pulley?

Ask LHT performance what they do in regards to belt tension as they dont seem to suffer any issues. They might even put a video on youtube showing you how to do it if you ask politely.

Are there any members here who've had the lht kraftwerks package installed ? If so , how's it holding up , LHT has installed many of these on several s2000's , I've been considering having this done , but after reading 18 pages , seems lots of belts are breaking. I'm guessing the 30mm belt has solved this ?

has anyone tried to retrofit an automatic tensioner from another car ? a small compact one that comes to mind is the BMW e46 serpentine belt tensioner. I would imagine a mount bracket needs to be made for it...
I really think the static type of tensioner is not meant for a dynamically moving belt that sees changes in heat as well as changes in load when the blower speed is progressively increased...

the problem is the cogged belt. It always has been. If you aren't able to work on the car yourself, this kit isn't for you as it can become very very expensive having to have a mechanic constantly correct belt issues, bolt issues, etc.
from what i have gathered about this kit is the following:
- Check motor mounts on the car to be good and strong. as motor movement only further stretches the belt and causes it to snap.
- belt tension is hit or miss. some guys snap tight belts and some snap more loose belts.
- for issues with the blower itself, you def need to fill and vent the oil system correctly. otherwise bearing failure is inevitable.
I find it ridiculous that KW has yet to fully address the issues people have had, and simply put out a "race belt/pulley" system rather than correct the underlying issues first. The instructions are still crap. When the kit first came out everyone praised the quick customer service people were being provided for broken parts etc... but i think having a reliable kit outweighs quick customer service for things that shouldn't be happening for street driven cars. As for track driven, just talk to Chefs2000 as he has had issues with his and somewhat worked around them if i recall. The fact the kit is much much cheaper than the competition is for a reason... Im sure there is guys out there who have had the kit with minor issues or even no issues...but the amount of problems others have had to me outweigh the good that some might have had. I had the kit for 2000 miles and then sold it... no issues for me, but my car was street driven only.
