Still not touched it
the original S2 failed the MOT, new arb link needed so that occupied the garage but is done now, the M will go in tonight
i'll remove the actuators and get the mosfets replaced and will replace the gears myself, then we'll see.
a hell of a lot of snake oil salesmen out there

Just get it fixed and go thrash the hell out of it somewhere, you'll like it again
Might even end up with a smoother throttle than you ever had in it and realise that it's not that bad after all...

So £150 + £80 for both sides plus your own labour. Hope it goes well and no other problems crop up along the way.
Then as MB suggests if you have lost trust (but you'll still need a beater.)
Look forward to the 'Today I Bought' thread

Jason,
FYI my Indy estimate just received:
(net of VAT)
Engine oil Castrol 10w60 9 litres £100
Filters: oil and 2 x cabin £80
New brake fluid foc
Labour for the above £120
He is installing my new actuator gear sets for £150 labour.
MOSFETs he has in stock and will only replace if inspection shows this is advisable.
edit: My motorhome started first pop today after standing for 10 weeks. I drove it about 15 inches (in reverse.)

that's a good price. BMWMAN quoted 2hrs labour (£140) to remove and refit so it's clearly not hard
unfortunately tonight i just refitted the dishwasher insteaad after buying insulation etc
the upside is that the floor needs to dry, i have all the stuff lined up (new wood thursday) but cant start that until it's bone dry as i'm laying thermal & damproof membrane over it. So gym tomorrow and then. maybe.. the BM starts to come apart
i hope it's as easy as the S was..

I'll post some pics up when i get near a PC
the fault hasnt returned since i charged the battery. Which is reassuring (not).
i got the air intake plenum and bits off. Some fiddly bits but its just a bit time consuming. Maybe 45 mins.
it looks good under there. Some bits a little grubby. I could easily change the plugs while i'm here, they are 8.5 years old.. hmm
anyway i can see the blighters but abandoned the garage at 2130 to watch broadchurch

That looks like one of those engine bays that gives you really sore ham strings the next day after working on it. Bit like the S, but at least you can reach over the sides.
