Sorry about your tickets. When I lived in San Diego I got so many tickets I almost had my driver's license revoked. Got a letter in the mail that said one more infraction and the DMV would suspend my license. But I was in my early 20s then and have mellowed (or am luckier) since then. Oh, and radar detectors help.

I agree about leaders who leave followers in the dust. I've been in that situation too, where I had no clue where to go. Walkie-talkies, or cell phones help. I've done many drives and the best ones are when the leader keeps track of all the duckies following and has a tail gunner who tells him when people get stuck at lights. The leader can pull over and wait for the group to regroup, but that may be more of a serious drive than what you're talking about.

I got a ticket in Mississippi in May 2007 and did traffic school on line. I did this one: I Drive Safely. Mississippi had a few they approved of and this one was good.

in CA you get 1 free get out of jail card to remove your first point, good for a three year period

once you use that free 1 pt removal, you don't get it again till 3 years after that 1 pt was erased
Wrong.

You get to take traffic school once every 18 months (from the date of citation not the date of when you take traffic school) to clear the point from that ticket.

If you do get another ticket within that 18 month time frame, you can take an extended traffic school to clear it, but you can only get granted that extended traffic school by the judge. A judge has the final say so even if it's your first ticket within the past 18 months, but it's a 2 pointer, the judge could drop it to 1 point and allow you to take traffic school which would then clear that point from your record. Depends how the judge feels, so don't be an ass to him/her.

What people always misinform others on is the point being deleted thing. Points will always remain on your dmv driving record. Those don't get wiped out or anything. Most insurance companies only check and apply any points or tickets within the past 3 years, some insurance companies check within the past 5 years when they assess your driving record to give you an insurance price.

A courtesy note will be mailed to you. If you're eligible for traffic school, it'll say so on the bottom. There will be two prices. One is to just pay for the ticket and eat the point (typically the cheaper one), the other is to pay for the ticket with the option of going to traffic school (a little bit more than the other one). The cost that you pay there does not include the fee to register for traffic school. You pay that cost to the school you decide to go to. Once you return the courtesy note with your option, another note will be sent to you if you chose to take traffic school. That second note will include a list of authorized traffic schools and authorized online schools. Just follow the info in that second note on how to register for school and when you need to complete it by.

I'm doing my traffic school right now by driversed.com it was the only online traffic school that was accepted in my county.

gluck.

thanks everyone for the help.

on a side note, do the cops here get comissions or have to meet quotas? cause they're writing tickets like there's on tomorrow.
