Default resonator?

anyone familiar with the so-called resonator in the front left of the engine compartment. i'm not sure that it actually is a resonator, but i was told by a guy at the dealer that that is what it was. there's a hose from the intake that goes to it and another hose that comes out of it.

i just want to know what it is and what it does.
i was told it had something to do with the air coming in. as it runs through the "resonator" it warms up so that warm air goes to the eninge...or sumthing like that.

...mine vibrates btw, that's also y i'm asking. should it be replaced. or is it normal for it to make that noise?

thanks!

i would think it works the same way as a resonator on an exhaust, to decrease the volume. i think it's normal that it vibrates, cause it absorbs from the intake.

and i just think. not sure. any one else?

Yes Yes. I did close up my Resonance Chamber that is located inside the air box that can be seen, once when taken off. I blocked with a cut piece of a sideskirt I had laying around. The is what the Spoon s2000 does, but they go in detail by covering up the resonance chamber, gutting the air box, and as well as the chamber arm when running their infamous Spoon snorkle.

I am very confused on your wording though. Maybe a picture will help. The mod that people do, including myself, block the resonance chamber for more of an aesthetic factor. Once the chamber is closed, more sound will be emitted inside the box making car sound very aggressive than usual. The resonance chamber is usually there to "filter" out the noise because the induction on our cars are very loud.

Since then, i do have some vibration in the intake and my car has a very loud HUM. I love it though, hahaha.

Check if your chamber has been closed by taking off your air box lid, remove the filter head aside, and you see if there is an opening that leads the the chamber. If there isn't a hole, the chamber has been closed.

it's not in the air box, it's just inside the engine compartment under the driver side headlight. there's a hose coming from the main intake hose that runs to it.
i could take a pic, but it wouldnt help. it's too far down to really get a good view.
