Damn...Sorry to hear that. I will be on the look out. That's the freeway by my place so I'm always on it a couple times a day.

ahh you beeen in contact with a pig, go check for swine flu.
I'd pay to hear someone say that to a cop after they got pulled over.

Cop... "Why were you speeding, Sir?"
You... "I don't know?!!"
Cop... "Driver's License yada yada yada"
You... "Could you hurry up, I need to get to the hospital to get checked for swine flu thanks to you pulling me over!"

That's suck Nick, for my own opinion, forget the after market intake, headers, etc just keep your engine stock so when you get pull over again they will not give you a ticket for state ref anymore.... I learn my lesson from my previous car ...NO MORE MODS ON MY ENGINE JUST LOOKS ONLY.. Good luck!

or you can also just rock the stock box with a snorkel for cold air. headers wise just rock the comptech headers that has carb tag on it, same reliable power as other brands.

More than likely he based pulling you over by the appearance of your car. If you were stock without those wheels in your sig he wouldn't have even bothered.

This is exactly why I don't bother with cosmetic mods in SoCal. Look at the shit the Evo owners who retain their wing get from cops.

Keep a low profile and for the most part you're safe.
That takes the fun out of owning the car I own it because I CAN do the things that I've done to it.

The solution is simple...I need to make my engine smog legal...and that's what i'll be doing this time around. I'll probably be buying a Comptech intake within the next month. The intake is really the only thing getting me in trouble (AEM V2 only has CARB EO numbers for 00-05...they haven't passed for drive by wire models yet).

As far as Daygo's comment.....it's not that I didn't "learn my lesson"....it's just that I don't care that it's not CARB legal. It's easy enough to swap the intake out for the smog ref. As far as teh fake CARB sticker, teh cop that pulled me over was already aware of all those "tricks"...he was telling me all about how ppl buy fake stickers and weld fake carb plates on their headers. I just did what I always do and played dumb. Fake crap is just gonna get you into bigger trouble.

Anyway...my whole reason for posting this was just to reinforce the fact that that the cops ARE serious about the whole illegal mods thing.

Yeah well the issue isn't really the ease of returning to stock and going to ref, it's how you value your time and how big a hassle you consider it.

I think if you live in an area where cops target specific cars (El Cajon - Motorcycle cops who hunt Evo's) The "illegal" mods aren't worth the time consumed resolving problems that rise when you get pulled over. It gets old fast especially when it happens over and over.

All I'm saying is when you set your car up to look how it does to draw positive attention from car enthusiasts, it does the opposite with cops and allows them to profile. I've always been a fan of sleepers.

Well it's your time and your money, we all have to face this decision when modding our cars, frankly I rather not deal with it from previous experiences.

Anyway, good luck and hope all goes well.

I don't have a huge problem with the situation except for the fact that the cop pulled me over without a REAL reason....just suspicion that he had "reasonable cause" to pull me over for modded parts.
So what did he reply when you asked him why you were pulled over? Can't these charges be thrown out if he had no reason to pull you over?
