I think you should ask again when you know where the branch will be. The suggestions given are all good areas, but the difference in drive time will be huge depending on where she is working.
If you want to look now, and stay central, then you should look in the Mission Valley / Fashion Valley areas. It's the most central and close to all freeways, and as long as she isn't in North County (Oceanside, Escondido, San Marcos, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Rancho Bernardo) then you are looking at a 30 minute drive to work from that central area..

I'd say to stay out of Mission Valley- had my Prelude stolen and broken into (in the space of 3 months) when I lived there a few years ago, and it wasn't uncommon for other cars in my complexes to get broken in to as well. Not to mention traffic sucks come the 1st and 15th of every month.
