Need First Hand Knowledge
So I decided that I am going to lay down the coin to get a header and exhaust. I am looking for first hand knowledge on different options. I am interested in:
Gains...are they worth the price?
Noise...I don't want to be much louder than stock, if at all.
Longevity...how long do these parts last?
Any help would be awesome. Thanks all.

KC,
I don't have first hand experience but have heard enough from people who run certain headers. I also have heard the same thing over and over again. Heres what I have heard bro hope it helps.
DC SPORTS Header gives about a 1 hp power gain and no torque gains.
Ricks Header gives about a 7-8 hp gain ??? on torque gain.
Mugen header gives about 8-9 hp gain ??? on torque gain.
There are a few other good quality headers made for our cars but forgot the brands.
Kind regards,
Joe

Here's a few to research....
1. J's
2. Mugen
3. Toda
3. Ricks
4. Comptech
5. DC sports
Very pricey for no more than 6-8 hp on the top 3. Minimal gains on the rest...and even a loss of hp on the DC sports.
Noise is louder on any aftermarket header simply due to the material it's made of and it's lighter weight. You will hear the exhaust note a bit better.
Longevity on the exhaust is nominal.... I've never heard of exhaust "wearing out".... a few may have had cracked gaskets but nothing that couldn't be fixed.
Headers to put it simply....if not combined with extensive other mods are a "bling" mod. You will have to lift your hood to show it.
I would consider saving your coins and buying a Turbo or SC kit. For the price of say a J's header and Mugen exhaust....you could have FI...
Just a thought...

5Zigen also makes a nice header.
If you do not want the sound level to go up i'd go with an all Mugen or all Comptech setup. Those are the highest level quality parts of the bunch.
