You shouldn't file a claim unless you need to. His premiums may increase so better to avoid the claims process altogether.
The premium will go down actually, The car is scheduled for long term storage for the next 2 years.

I'm just pissed about it all. Had good luck up to this point.

Sorry to hear about your top. Here's another site you might want to check into. I heard they have quality tops. I've never seen them personally. Good luck and hope this gets resolved smoothly.

if it's coming out of his comprehensive deductible (fire, theft, vandalism) it should not increase his premium.

if your deductible is $1000, you should call your insurance and ask what is the $ diff if you decrease your deductible to $500 or maybe even $300. You can change your comp without changing your collision deductible. It will really help in case crap like that happens again in the future. S2000 are vandalism magnets.

Don's top was slashed and our deductible was only $200 thank goodness. All we did with the money was buy upholstery thread and sewed up the hole haha.

Can't multiple comprehensive claims end up having an effect on premium?

technically no and yes. Your premium will never go up no matter how many comp claims you do.

But all in all, if were talking about ALL the policy holders from a single insurance company filing many many claims, then everyone as a WHOLE may be hit with a higher premium.
