Default Moving to San Diego

Hello all. I was just offered / accepted a job in San Diego. I start in early April so I need to find a place out there pretty soon. I've visited San Diego many times and I love it but visiting a place and living there are two different stories, you know? I would like to know some decent areas to live (within my budget) and if anyone is possibly looking for a roommate.

A little background info:

Congrats on the move

$800 is tough tho man...you won't find anything decent in that range here...not from my experience though. I live in chula vista which is already a cheaper (but decent) part of town...and I'm paying $1035/mo. That's near rock bottom.

If you're rooming with someone, it might be a different story though...are you looking at $800 total or $800 each? There are alot of houses with roomshares (usually 4-6 ppl a house) around teh college areas if you don't mind that...usually it ends up being $400-$600/mo/person.

Well $800 would the most I would want to pay as my share of the rent. I wouldn't mind living with another roomate or two (maybe three) but 6 ppl to house is a seems to be a bit much. Nichigo, if you dont mind me asking, Are you renting an apartment? And what are the amenties for $1035 /month? In Vegas, that would get someone a two bedroom apt with a gargage. Sorry for being so nieve, I'm just trying to get a feel for what Im getting into.

It's a 1bdrm apartment...640 sq ft I think. Amenities are paid water, paid garbage, pool, work out area, and some other little things. I'm also renting a garage for another $50 on top of the base rent.

If you want $800 as your share, maybe you should look into room sharing a 2bdrm apat or condo. you can definitely find a decent one for $1600 or less.

There are some areas in Esco for your asking price but man there is a reason why they are around that price.

I wouldn't touch Escondido with a 6 foot pole. I'd move further in towards Vista/SM or consider Poway/Carmel Mountain over Escondido. No diss, I just didn't like the area/place when I frequented SD.

Plus he's going to SDSU...that's a pretty killer drive from there.

look around the La Mesa area. I pay $550/mo (in a house with 3 friends) and am about 10 minutes from SDSU.
