Default Just switched to Mobil 1 Synthetic

I just switched to Mobil 1 Synthetic last week, put 5 quarts of oil into the S. It has about 14k miles on the engine. Today I go to check the engine and I find that I'm pretty close to LOW oil, the dip stick gets about half way when I check it.

Is it normal for you to burn/lose oil when you switch to synthetic? I've never had any issues with my motor oil before. Not even during the break in period did I burn any oil.....Is this normal?

s2ks do burn a little oil. but the amount your describing is not normal. How hard are you driving your car? redline shifts?

it's only been a week and i've probably driven the car like less then 100 miles since I have a DD. I do drive the car hard, but not to the extreme or anything. Redline shifting here and there....

I've ran synthetic from git and even with the burn that S2's are nown for, I've never burned a noticable amount. You didn't notice oil under the car? I would think that with that much oil loss, you'd notice something in it's parking spot...

Hmmm....at the moment, there is no oil under the car. The car is parked in a garage so I would see it right away if it were to leak. I'll keep a look out on it and see what's going on.

I've run Mobil 1 for years. I generally keep a quart around to top off between changes, but it never takes more than that and often less.

I've had the same problem. 1500 miles into the oil change, I'd burn about half a quart. Mine seems to be burning a lot more than others also.

I drive my car hard on some occassions with some occassional trips to lyons valley for some spirited driving

I say just keep some oil on you like ron said, and don't let the oil dip below the L, and you should be good

Gl on your car

Yes i put in 5 qts. I thought this was how much I'm supposed to put in? The dip stick was near HIGH when I checked it after 5 qts so I didn't want to add anymore.
