Default Great San Diego Drives

Hey all,

I recently drove along Highland Valley Road (link) from the 15 through Escondido and Ramona, and then down the 67. It was a blast in the s2k. I'm scouting out some more, and was wondering what are some of your favorite drives around the county?

Well all depends on where you stay at but me being from spring valley I have the Ramona loop quick drive up wildcat canyon and then down the 67 or 79 to 78 then down 67 to come back home. Also Palomar mountain all 3 are my common areas. There are more I just keep to those where I feel comfortable.

Thanks! I'll have to check out Wildcat Canyon. By the way, we're neighbors. I live at the base of Mount Helix on the La Mesa side.

o ok haha when I had my corolla I did the loop around the mountain every once in a while I lived on Panorama Drive. the lildcat canyon is when you are going to Barona you just keep on that road until it hits the T then you take a left and follow that road all the way back down to the 67. I like it because it's a pretty good run after you pass borona and then the way back mellows out and it's a bunch of straights to calm the spirits.

Otay Lakes rd from south san diego up through Skyline Truck Trail in Jamul is a nice one if you can do it when it's not busy.

Skyline truck trail is awesome in a higher hp car. Definitely one of my favorite roads in the vette with long high speed sweepers. Theres a road(I think its Dawson) off of Skyline truck trail that leads to a dead end but is very nice. Smooth newly paved road, tight switchback corners and great scenery. Lmk if you want to go sometime and we'll plan a small drive on a saturday/sunday in the morning. there's quite a few roads in that area that are rewarding.
