Default Good Sushi Places?

Hey guys

I have the prom this weekend and im looking for a pretty nice sushi place to take the date to. The actual dance is going to be at the sheraton hotel in downtown so anywhere around there. Also if the place is formal that is better, i dont want to be the only guy with a full suit in there.

any suggestions would be helpful.

well there are a few places but I think these might work

Zen Cafe (inside on broadway) Down town check to see if its 21 and up..not sure

Cafe Japengo (my fav) in La jolla this is more upscale..I think she will like it. has a lot of reviews and if you decide to go here let me know, I have a friend there, maybe I can get you a special hook up...

here is one for your reading enjoyment:
Restaurant Profile

Cafe Japengo's had a buzz on since the beginning, and while this uber-hip Pacific Rim restaurant has matured, it hasn't lost a bit of its edge. Depending on who you ask, Japengo could qualify as the very best pick-up spot in the county.
Dos and Don'ts
By all means, valet park. Dress to impress -- black's a safe bet. Sit at a sleek bar table if you're not that interested in the menu, but don't worry if you nab a booth or the coveted window table. All the better to see and be seen.

Oh Yeah, the Food
Wokkin' creations like shrimp and scallops with rice noodles, and the ahh-inspiring presentation of a whole striped bass Japonaise are menu favorites. It's possible to move rapturously from sushi to hot appetizers to dinner to dessert here without realizing the entire evening is flying by -- it may have something to do with the sinuous and relentlessly pounding dance music that plays not-so-much in the background.

Taka on 5th is a good choice for downtown (closer) but not as upscale as Cafe Japengo (also )

oh wait....

REAL nice and classy...

Roppongi in LaJolla! I think it's considered Asian fusion or something like that but they do have a sushi bar. I think the dining room is nicer though.
